Housed in a building that was formerly abandoned, The Planet Traveler today offers elegant, opulent rooms and boasts of using ‘less electrical power than a four-slice toaster' daily.
It's impossible not to notice the string of solar and photovoltaic panels that adorn its roof, which give the building a distinctively futuristic appearance. The whole structure was designed and built with the goal of greater respect for the environment, and the building includes geothermal temperature control, movement sensors to regulate lighting, and a water-recovery system. It is a model for ‘green hotels' in North America and around the world, and a conscientiously green proposal that is both elegant and spacious. It is also ideally located at the crossroads of Kensington Market and the trendy, bright-coloured bars of Little Italy.
After a long day exploring the city, take a walk up to the rooftop bar, open until midnight, and watch the sun dip into Lake Ontario.
