Mill Valley Film Festival: celebrating the best of independent cinema

Every October, Marin County is in the spotlight. In nearly 40 years, the MVFF has built a reputation for its quality and diversity.

Celebrating the best of independent cinema, the Mill Valley Film Festival attracts both new talent—from the United States and around the globe—as well distinguished filmmakers. Every year, thousands of enthusiastic fans attend screenings at various venues in Marin County, north of San Francisco, knowing they can always expect a quality programme (Slumdog Millionaire, The King's Speech and Argo were all shown at the MVFF prior to their success at the Oscars).

Special tributes also attract big American movie stars, such as past attendees including Bradley Cooper, Ang Lee, Geoffrey Rush and Dustin Hoffman. With its strong reputation as a “filmmaker's festival”, the MVFF will reunite over 200 directors, producers and actors for its 39th edition, offering you the opportunity to discover works whose international distribution is not guaranteed.
