Every city has its institutions, and in Porto-Vecchio it is the Cabanon bleu (Blue Shed) on the divine bay of Saint-Cyprien. Chic and authentic, the restaurant lures celebrities, beautiful people, and those who are not necessarily striving to be either for lunch, dinner, or a drink. This is the place to see and be seen, so they come back, by boat or by a very steep path. Big salads, grilled meats, and fresh fish comprise the base of the excellent cuisine joyfully and casually cooked by François Ladu and Anthony Baggioni, in partnership with chef Lionel Soulie. Simple and unadorned recipes, but always carefully prepared. All products are sourced from the restaurant's own vegetable garden or local producers, while goat cheese crottins are produced at the nearby farms.
Large canvas umbrellas, blue wooden tables, and the proximity of the white-sand beach make it a little paradise that might allow certain dreamers to think that they are spending their vacation in the Caribbean.
There is no signage indicating Cabanon bleu: only locals know the address. It will be an excuse for you to mingle and ask your way!
