Gourmet getaway among the stands of the Foodhallen

The Foodhallen opened in September 2014 in a large Amsterdam warehouse where tramway cars were once parked. Discover a trendy concept.

The teal blue doors of the Foodhallen open onto a grandiose urban loft-like space. The sun's rays penetrate through the roof to light the tables and wooden benches, make the glasses shimmer on the long counters and bathe more than 20 restaurateurs in light. From a Michelin-starred chef to international culinary stands, the building draws its inspiration from the indoor markets of Copenhagen and Madrid, revealing a cosmopolitan air suffused with finesse.

Masterfully designed by Dutch architect André van Stigt, this huge gourmet hall brings together international fare with alternative cuisines, most prepared as you wait. Share some bitterballen (Dutch meatballs) with truffles or perhaps bouillabaisse style, or mouth-watering pieces of shredded pork in barbecue sauce, fried vegetables or seafood buns. Escape to Spain for a plate of tapas or dive into the heart of Hong Kong for a few dim sum. Eat in or take away?
