Blue velvet, dark wooden floors, brick walls, a long marble bar, paintings by Roy Liechtenstein, portraits of Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe, a huge Popeye statue by Jeff Koons... Eclectic, chaotic and brightly coloured, Felix Culpa's decoration creates an atmosphere like no other. By installing authentic works of art and objects, including the gigantic crystal chandelier that illuminates the room, owner Massimiliano Sgarbi aims at conveying an intimate setting. On the food side, chef Nick Amoriello offers modern American cuisine with revisited family favourites: gnocchi, shrimp cocktails, cheeseburgers, beef fillet with marrow butter, horseradish sauce and grilled potatoes, though you can also opt for the very nicely presented burrata salad with pears, ham and honey. You may still have plenty of room for dessert—a cinnamon chocolate leaf on ganache, topped with chocolate mousse, mascarpone cream and an amaretto cookie crumble for instance. Sounds good?
