Cafe Gandolfi was conceived 30 years ago by designer Tim Stead, an alumnus of Glasgow School of Art, and has been left untouched. With tables and chairs sculpted out of raw wood, the cafe part of the ground floor has a rustic setting with an arty and poetic touch, and opens at breakfast time. A level above, under the building's roof, there is a bar area with a more bistro-style ambiance.
Whether on the ground level or 1st floor the menu stays the same, with the exception of pizza, which is only available at the bar. The menu contains traditional Scottish dishes such as haggis, smoked fish and their famous pudding. Just next door, from 84 to 86 Albion Street, the owners opened an excellence seafood restaurant, le Gandolfi Fish, which offers fish and shellfish fished and smoked in the region.
