At Costa Verde, dream in a renovated plane

On Costa Rica's Pacific coast, two hours from the San José airport, Costa Verde offers a chance for an unusual night, in a restored Boeing 727.

In Quepos, small village near the Manuel Antonio Costa Rican national park, the Costa Verde Hotel settled in amid 30 hectares of preserved jungle. This natural corridor allows animals to easily reach the coastline, only a few metres away from the park. From the bedrooms, studios and bungalows, you will be able to observe the processions of squirrel monkeys, capuchins and other howler monkeys.
However, the hotel's main attraction is its airplane, suspended 15 metres above ground and looking like it is about to land in the tropical forest. Renovated into a two-room independent housing unit, this 1965 Boeing 727 reveals a 360° view of the beach and the nature reserve from the cockpit and windows. The wings, now covered by surrounding flora, have been arranged as sheltered terraces. As for the interior, it will remind you of a mountain cabin with its all-wood rustic style of decoration. Wake up at dawn to make the best of the panorama from the plane, then take a walk on the two private hiking trails to get as close to toucans and sloths as possible.
